Cash Flow Frog vs Odoo

Cash flow forecasting Odoo doesn't do natively

Odoo records your cash. It doesn't forecast it. You get a historical cash flow statement, not a forward view. Cash Flow Frog connects to the same Odoo data and builds the forecast for you — daily and weekly, up to three years out, with scenarios, dimensional breakdowns, and rule-based projections. This page compares both, fairly.

If your clients run Odoo Online, modules are not an option

Forecasting apps on the Odoo Apps Store are installable modules, and modules can only be installed on Odoo.sh and on-premise. On Odoo Online there is no way to install one, so the usual answer to "add forecasting inside Odoo" is closed off before you start.

Cash Flow Frog connects to Odoo Accounting as an authorized read-only connection rather than as a module. That works identically on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and on-premise, with nothing installed in the database and nothing to re-test when Odoo ships a new version.

Verdict

Which tool fits your situation

Both verdicts stated upfront. Read this before the rest of the page.

Choose Odoo's native reporting if

Looking back at cash inside your ERP is enough

  • You only need a historical cash flow statement and aged payable/receivable reports
  • You want everything in one ERP and don't mind that the forward view is limited
  • You are on Odoo.sh or on-premise and are comfortable installing, configuring and re-testing a third-party Apps Store module after every Odoo upgrade
  • Your business runs as a single company with straightforward cash timing
Choose Cash Flow Frog if

You need an actual forward forecast, without building it

  • You want cash position next week, next month, and three years out, not just last quarter
  • You need the forecast broken down by vendor, customer, analytic account, project, or department
  • You want rule-based projections and AI suggestions, not manual lines you maintain by hand
  • You run multiple Odoo companies or currencies and need them consolidated
  • You want to connect the forecast to Zapier, Claude, or ChatGPT
  • You'd rather connect in minutes than configure a forecasting module

Comparison covers cash flow forecasting only. Based on publicly available information about Odoo Accounting and the Odoo Apps Store, current as of June 2026. Odoo's native forecasting can be extended with third-party modules, which vary in capability and are maintained outside Odoo, so verify current detail at odoo.com. The ✓ / ~ / ✗ marks indicate full availability, partial or conditional availability, and no availability for cash flow forecasting respectively.

Four key differentiators

Where the gap is widest

Each one is a concrete capability, not an adjective. Odoo is a capable ERP. These are the jobs its native accounting was not built to do.

01
Flexible Forecasting

Daily and weekly, on a 3-year horizon

Cash Flow Frog forecasts daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly, on a rolling 36-month horizon. Run a 13-week cash flow, see which week a payroll run or a tax payment lands, and plan loan repayments and hiring a full year or more ahead, all from the same forecast.

Odoo native: gives you a historical cash flow statement and aged payable/receivable reports. They tell you where cash has been, not where it's going. A forward forecast means adding a third-party module.
02
Drill-Down Forecast

A forecast you can break apart

Break the forecast down by vendor, customer, analytic account, project, or department, and switch between them in a click. Drill three levels deep from any forecasted figure to the invoices and bills behind it. You see what is driving each number, from whichever angle you need.

Odoo native: supports analytic accounts and dimensions in its reports, but those dimensions don't carry into a forward cash flow forecast, because the native forecast isn't there.
03
Auto Projections

Projections that build themselves

Cash Flow Frog creates projections from rules: a percentage of revenue, a rolling average, a fixed growth rate, or a set amount, all updating on their own as new data syncs. After every sync it detects new patterns in your transaction history and suggests projections for you to review.

Odoo native: projecting future cash means entering and maintaining lines by hand, or relying on a third-party module's logic. There is no native rule-based or AI-suggested projection engine.
04
Connected Workflow

A forecast connected to your other tools

Cash Flow Frog has a Zapier integration, so projections can flow in automatically from the other tools you run. It also connects to Claude and ChatGPT through MCP, so you can ask questions about your forecast and update it directly from an AI assistant.

Odoo native: its accounting data stays inside Odoo. There is no Zapier or AI-assistant path for cash flow forecasting out of the box.
For Odoo users & growing businesses

A forecasting layer on top of your ERP

Odoo runs your operations. Cash Flow Frog adds the forward cash view it doesn't include, without ripping anything out or installing another module to maintain.

Connect, don't configure

A read-only connection to your Odoo data builds the forecast automatically. No module setup, no mapping cash buckets by hand, no developer time.

Every company in one view

Running more than one Odoo company? Bring them into a single consolidated forecast, with breakdowns by analytic account, project, or department across all of them.

Depth for real decisions

Vendor and customer breakdowns, scenario tools, and a 3-year horizon give you something to work with when the conversation turns to runway, payroll timing, or a hiring decision.

Whatever you migrate to next

If part of the business moves off Odoo to QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage Intacct, the forecast follows. Cash Flow Frog connects to all of them.

FAQ

Common questions.

Odoo includes a historical cash flow statement and reports like aged payable and receivable, which show where your cash has been. It does not include a native forward cash flow forecast. To project future cash inside Odoo you would install a third-party module from the Apps Store and configure it. Cash Flow Frog connects to your Odoo data and builds a rolling 36-month forecast automatically.

No. The connection to Odoo is read-only. Cash Flow Frog reads your invoices, bills, payments, transactions and account balances, and it cannot create, edit or delete anything in Odoo. Your forecast, scenarios and manual adjustments live in Cash Flow Frog, so nothing you do while planning touches your accounting records.

No. Odoo stays your system of record. Your team keeps invoicing, paying bills and reconciling in Odoo exactly as they do now. Cash Flow Frog reads that data and builds the forward view on top of it, so you are adding a planning layer rather than moving off your ERP.

Up to three years, rolling. You can view the forecast daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, so you can look at next week's cash position and your three-year outlook in the same tool. The forecast updates automatically every day as new Odoo data comes in.

Yes. You can break the forecast down by customer, vendor, analytic account, project and department, and drill from any figure down to the individual transactions behind it. That means you can see which specific invoices are driving a tight month rather than only that the month is tight.

Yes. Connect each Odoo company and view them consolidated or one at a time, with multi-currency handled natively. You can switch between a group-level cash position and a single entity without rebuilding anything.

A module has to be installed in your Odoo database, which means it only runs on Odoo.sh and on-premise. If you are on Odoo Online you cannot install one at all. A module also needs configuring, and it has to be migrated and re-tested every time you upgrade Odoo. Cash Flow Frog connects to Odoo Accounting as an authorized read-only connection instead, so there is nothing in your database, nothing to configure and nothing that breaks on upgrade. You connect and the forecast builds itself.

Yes. Cash Flow Frog forecasts the actual cash movement, so it uses the gross amounts recorded on your Odoo invoices and bills, tax included. What you see is the money that will leave or arrive in the bank, not the net-of-tax figure.

Yes. Cash Flow Frog connects to Zapier, Claude and ChatGPT, so you can ask questions about your forecast in plain language or push cash figures into the workflows you already run.
