Do you think outsource bookkeepers have a future?
What do you mean? I’m a bookkeeper, I’ve been doing outsourced books for more than 10 years, I see no reason why it shouldn’t grow in fact.
Simple tasks such as data entry will surely be replaced. The basic compliance work is already being outsourced by firms to other countries, where the wages are much lower, because these tasks are very technical and simple. So of course this part of our job will be done by computers, but no body likes it anyhow…
In the next few years I think that artificial intelligence will almost completely replace the need for outsourcing of these tasks.
As far as I can see there’s still no substitute for outsourcing bookkeeping to firms. First of all, there are small businesses that can’t afford in house bookkeeping. Secondly, not all big companies want to manage their own bookkeeping, rather let another firm do it for them so that they can focus on their business. Particularly as more and more professional accountants and bookkeepers learn to provide deeper advisory services to their clients.
